In the first edition of the Dakar Rally in 1979, the Yamaha XT had the opportunity to prove its worth in the toughest race in the world. XT riders won this legendary event in ’79 and ’80 and inspired the development of the original Ténéré in 1983 – Yamaha’s iconic adventure motorcycle that changed the world of motorcycling.
